Last Mile Dot Earth

Back story and marketing content Ver 1

Last Mile Dot Earth is a SAS, Social Platform and Online Collaboration System geared to help provide the resources necessary to create enterprise value for locally owned small businesses and startups in Minority and Disadvantaged areas of the US.

Why we do it?

Three reasons,

First, there are over 80 billion dollars worth of programs and grants that are available today. We feel that people in the local areas could benefit from the majority of those funds being used by local companies and organizations. This should have a far greater effect on local economies if the award goes to a local organization, as opposed to a multinational conglomerate. As an example Space X is taking a great deal of the funding currently.… A grant was issued on 08/13/2021 to Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX), experiment type: Space (other than cubesats)… – We have hundreds of such sources

Second,, We see a good potential here to profit from disrupting rural broadband while doing good

Third, The $900 billion Covid-19 stimulus bill in 2020 set aside $7 billion in funding for broadband connectivity and infrastructure.

That amount included $3.2 billion for a $50-a-month emergency broadband benefit for low-income households and those that have suffered a significant loss of income in 2020, and a $75-a-month rebate for those living on tribal lands.

It also included $1 billion in grants for tribal broadband programs, $300 million for rural broadband grants, and funds toward telehealth, broadband mapping, and broadband in communities surrounding historically Black colleges and universities.

Yet, as more than 55 million students moved to online learning during the pandemic, one in five teens, ages 13 to 17, reported being unable to do their homework “often” or “sometimes” because of unreliable Internet access.

Twelve million children were without internet access altogether.

70% of children in the Kansas City school district did not have internet access at home

School starts again in a few weeks and the situation has not gotten much better.

7% of the New infrastructure bill, some 65 billion dollars is allocated to Broadband Infrastructure for Minority and Disadvantaged areas of the US.

These funds have arrived to late for the students starting the 2021 School Year next month. Something has to change quickly, or Twelve million children will be without internet access altogether for a second year, and 70% of children in the Kansas City school district will not have internet access at home again this year.

We feel that the the more than Twelve million US children that were unable to do their homework because their home is without any internet access altogether in September of 2020 need internet access in September of 2021.

Current Work Flow –

1. First Last Mile Dot Earth is compiling and sharing with its membership, a list of Government Programs and Grants which could provide –

                   A. Funding for Broadband Infrastructure Build out to Rural and Disadvantaged Areas.

                  B. Funding to provide Devices to students and families in Minority and Disadvantaged areas of the US.

                  C. Funding to create course ware instructing local people how to stay safe on the internet, how to access services on  the internet, how to find remote worker jobs.

                  D. Funding to create courseware instructing local people how to start businesses to sell goods and services digitally. An example might be, to teach local people and businesses how to                                     apply for grants to teach Digital Literacy using Digital Literacy grants.

                  E. Last Mile Dot Earth is looking for Grants to help fund the current operations and to provide sponsorship for local innovation centers.

Example of Government Programs and Grants –

The Broadband Infrastructure Program…

USDA Broadband ReConnect Program…

As a note here, we think the Broadband Infrastructure Build out should be done by local companies and build hyper local enterprise value. And any curriculum could be provided through the LearnDash Pro LMS provided, gratis, to Last Mile Dot Earth members (also gratis).

2. Next Last Mile Dot Earth is compiling and sharing with its membership information on how at a local level, new and existing small business could begin build out the wireless infrastructure necessary to provide Broadband to Minority and Disadvantaged areas of the US.
